Understanding "Why Being of One Accord Is the Body?" from a Biblical Perspective

Ephesians 4:3-6 "Being diligent to keep the oneness of the Spirit in the uniting bond of peace: One Body and one Spirit, even as also you were called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism; One God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all."

Acts 1:14 "These all continued steadfastly with one accord in prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers."

Acts 2:46 "And day by day, continuing steadfastly with one accord in the temple and breaking bread from house to house, they partook of their food with exultation and simplicity of heart."

Romans 12:4-5 "For just as in one body we have many members, and all the members do not have the same function, so we who are many are one Body in Christ, and individually members one of another."

Aspect

Why Being of One Accord Is the Body?

Meaning

Being of one accord is the practice and application of the oneness of the Body

One accord is not merely psychological agreement, but the expression of the organic principle of the Body

It is the transformation of spiritual reality (the oneness of the Body) into practical experience (one accord)

Reason

The Body is essentially one; this oneness is a fact and reality

One accord is the way to practice the oneness of the Body

In the Body of Christ, oneness is the essence, one accord is the expression

When believers practice the principle of the Body, one accord naturally emerges

Examples

The one hundred and twenty disciples praying with one accord before Pentecost (Acts 1:14)

The early church believers continuing steadfastly with one accord in the apostles' teaching and fellowship (Acts 2:46)

The apostles and believers practicing one accord in the church life (Acts 4:24, 32; 5:12; 15:25)

• In the book of Acts, one accord was the prerequisite for the work of the Holy Spirit

Application

Preserving the oneness of the Body and practicing one accord in local churches

Achieving one accord through steadfast, persistent prayer

Practicing the principle of the Body, recognizing and respecting the Body

Allowing the Body of Christ to have concrete expression in local churches

Relevant Scriptures

• Romans 15:5-6 "Now the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind toward one another according to Christ Jesus, that with one accord you may with one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ."

• 1 Corinthians 12:12-13 "For even as the body is one and has many members, yet all the members of the body, being many, are one body, so also is the Christ. For also in one Spirit we were all baptized into one Body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and were all given to drink one Spirit."

• 1 Corinthians 1:10 "Now I beseech you, brothers, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be attuned in the same mind and in the same opinion."

• John 17:11 "...Holy Father, keep them in Your name, which You have given to Me, that they may be one even as We are."

Conclusion:

The relationship between one accord and the Body of Christ reveals a profound spiritual principle:

  • * one accord is not merely a psychological state or emotional alignment, but the practical expression of the Body's inherent oneness. True oneness belongs to the Body organically, while one accord is its practical manifestation in the church life. When believers function according to the principle of the Body—recognizing that they are members one of another with Christ as the Head—they naturally express one accord.
  •
  • * This is why the early church experienced such powerful moves of the Spirit; their one accord was the practical application of the oneness that Christ had already established through His death and resurrection. Today, as we preserve the oneness of the Spirit and practice one accord in prayer, fellowship, and service, we allow the reality of the Body of Christ to be expressed concretely in local churches throughout the earth.
