Christ is the Treasure

Recognize and experience Christ as the embodiment of God

Christ is glorious, the embodiment of God, becoming

our life and everything

This treasure is the indwelling Christ, the source of divine supply for Christian living

The apostles, relying on the surpassing power of this treasure, lived a crucified life, manifesting the resurrected life of Christ

Colossians 2:9-10 "For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness."

2 Corinthians 4:7 "But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us."

2 Corinthians 4:6 "For God, who said, 'Let light shine out of darkness,' made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory displayed in the face of Christ."

2 Corinthians 3:18 "And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit."

1 John 2:15 "Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.

Philippians 3:7-8 "But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ."

The Face

Christ's face is the expression of His inner thoughts and feelings, revealing and presenting His whole person

Only when we live in Christ's presence, focusing on the expression of who He is, do we feel He is truly precious to us

Beholding the face of Jesus Christ is the most precious thing in the universe

Renouncing the Old Person

Behold the expression in Christ's eyes and enjoy His presence

By beholding the expression in Christ's eyes and enjoying His presence, accept Him as our person

This experience makes us feel the preciousness of the indwelling Christ and causes us to shine

The glory of Christ shines out from within us

The Surpassing Treasure

Recognize and experience Christ as the treasure surpassing all

Christ is the most surpassing One in the entire universe

We have this living Person who surpasses the world within us

Because we have Christ as this treasure, we do not love the world

Treasuring Christ Above the World

Receive Christ as the surpassing treasure through the illumination of the gospel

The world is far inferior to Christ as this treasure

We treasure the Lord far above the world, not because we shouldn't love the world, but because Christ is more surpassing and lovely

Believers receive this surpassing treasure through the illumination of Christ's glorious gospel
