Reasons

Matthew 9:9-13 "As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector's booth. 'Follow me,' he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him... On hearing this, Jesus said, 'It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick... For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.'"

Romans 3:10 "As it is written: 'There is no one righteous, not even one.'"

Luke 18:9 "To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable:"

Psalm 103:1-4 "Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion."

Psalm 107:17-22 "Some became fools through their rebellious ways and suffered affliction because of their iniquities... They loathed all food and drew near the gates of death. Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave. Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind. Let them sacrifice thank offerings and tell of his works with songs of joy."

Explanation

1. A judge judges according to justice, a physician heals according to mercy and grace

Matthew 8:2-16 "A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, 'Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.'... When Jesus came into Peter's house, he saw Peter's mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever. He touched her hand and the fever left her... When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick."

Matthew 8:28-32 "When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs met him... He said to them, 'Go!' So they came out..."

Matthew 9:2-11 "Some men brought to him a paralyzed man, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, 'Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.'... Then he said to the paralytic, 'Get up, take your mat and go home.' Then the man got up and went home."

1. Experience the crucified Christ

Exodus 15:22-27 "Then Moses led Israel from the Red Sea and they went into the Desert of Shur. For three days they traveled in the desert without finding water... Then the Lord showed him a piece of wood. He threw it into the water, and the water became fit to drink. There the Lord issued a ruling and instruction for them and put them to the test. He said, 'If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.'"
